FREE *to go* Activities

Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum
This past November, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum placed a beautiful Stop-by Studio for all to enjoy with free art kits and books to keep or borrow! My kids loved going to the museum pre-covied so grabbing one of these kits was defiantly a highlight for them. The kit contained watercolors, a paintbrush, a picture to paint as well as ideas to create your own art. The museum has posted several different “subjects” to paint with the most recent one being Snow Sculpture, Penguin–check it out!!

Home Depot
Every month since our kids have been little, I have signed them up for the free Kids Workshop where the first Saturday of every month between 9am – 12pm we would go to the store, paint and hammer away a new project. Since Covid, our local Home Depot in Wausau has been handing out their free projects for you to complete at home on the first Saturday of every month, first come basis until they run out. The kits include everything you will need except the tools and paint.

This past October, Lowe’s has recently stared up their free Kids Build and Grow Workshop again after a long break of not offering it. Every second weekend of the month, you are able to pick up a free workshop kit at guest services. These kits include everything you need to build your project (tools not included), a patch, step-by-step instructions, and if it’s your first build, they will give you an apron and safety glasses. For these kits, you do need to pre-register online and registration is limited.

ACE Hardware-Weston

Weston Ace is always a fun place to go for their Kids Club! After each craft my kids would end up at the “zoo” and “aquarium” as they called it! If you haven’t been there, they have a large selection of fish and critters that will keep the kids entertained for some time! Since Covid- Ace’s Kids Club was on hold but recently has come back as a Crafts to Go for families! These kits are available the second Saturday of every month as first come-first serve basis.
